• EDINA 4, CENTENNIAL 0: The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in front of a home crowd in the first period with offensive pressure and a couple of power plays Thursday night. Bo Brauer found the net first for Edina and just 19 seconds later Andy Jordahl scored. Edina outshot Centennial 25-4 in the second period and added two more goals. A scoreless third period gave the Hornets their fourth victory of the season.• WAYZATA 2, ANDOVER 1: The Trojans and Huskies traded goals in the opening frame, but after a quick, scoreless second period Wayzata's Brian Machut scored in the third to give his team a slim 2-1 lead that would hold up until the final buzzer.

• HILL-MURRAY 2, BURNSVILLE 1: These two teams engaged in a defensive battle, with neither team scoring nor committing a penalty for nearly the first 30 minutes of play. Hill-Murray's Mitch Slattery scored a goal near the end of the second period to break the streak. The Blaze scored on a power play to start the third period to tie the score, but Hill-Murray's Jacob Olson found the net soon after for the game-winner.

• IRONDALE 4, WACONIA 3: After trading goals in the first two periods, Irondale jumped out to a lead after the final intermission on Logan Johnson's goal. Waconia evened the score again a few minutes later on a power play, but Kilen Eilefson gave his team a 4-3 lead, which the Knights clung to for the final 4 minutes.

• EDEN PRAIRIE 7, CHAMPLIN PARK 1: The Eagles went on a shooting frenzy in the first two periods, scoring seven times on 32 shots. Colton Schmidt, Michael Graham, and Steven Spinner each scored twice, and goalie Jake Kielly stopped 21 Champlin Park shots.

GIRLS' HOCKEY

Royals win with one goal• HOPKINS 1, CENTENNIAL 0: A second-period power play goal from Grace Bizal was all the scoring in this game, but one goal was enough for the Royals to hang on. Hopkins outshot Centennial by a 20-10 margin.

• CRETIN-DERHAM HALL 3, ROSEVILLE 2: Cretin-Derham Hall took 15 shots in the overtime period, but didn't find victory until Natalie Kelly found the net on a power-play goal. Emma May had 25 saves for the Raiders.

• LAKEVILLE SOUTH 5, APPLE VALLEY 3: Ari Reid scored three goals in the second period for Lakeville South to notch the hat trick, and Kalley Ravndalen found the net twice to give the Panthers a 5-3 road win. Lakeville South goalkeeper Chloe Crosby saved 21 shots.

• MOUND-WESTONKA 4, SOUTH ST. PAUL 1: Mound-Westonka's Jessica Nkhata scored a hat trick on her home ice, and eighth-grade goalkeeper Emma Polusny saved 35 of 36 shots to give her undefeated White Hawks their sixth victory of the season.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Providence hot on threes• PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 48, TOTINO-GRACE 31: Providence Academy withstood a second-half comeback from the Eagles. The Lions nailed all seven of their three-point attempts in the first half.

• WAYZATA 76, LAKEVILLE SOUTH 50: The Trojans turned their five-point halftime lead into a 26-point rout on their home court. Kiana Nickel of Wayzata led all scorers with 18. Julia Durham and Katie Quandt each had 11 points for the Cougars.

• EDINA 46, STILLWATER 25: Behind MC McGrory's game-leading 16 points, the Hornets didn't give the Stillwater crowd much to cheer about. Larissa Colvin scored eight points to lead the Ponies.

• EASTVIEW 72, MINNETONKA 66: The Lightning got a tight road victory over the Skippers. Tyra Johnson and Madison Guebert combined for 55 points for the Lightning. Joanna Hedstrom's career-high 29 points led the Skippers, but Eastview managed to maintain its slim lead throughout the game.

• NEW RICHLAND-H-E-G 80, BELLE PLAINE 37: New Richland's Carlie Wagner led all scorers with 32 points, and the Panthers rolled to a lopsided victory. Jade Schultz added three treys for New Richland. Claire Otto scored 14 points for the Tigers.

• TARTAN 75, MOUNDS VIEW 69: A high-scoring first half gave Tartan a slim lead at the break, which they maintained through the final buzzer. Tia Elbert scored 36 points for the Titans, which combined to hit five three-pointers. Katie McDaniels led Mounds View with 21 points.

• JORDAN 69, GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE 35: Jordan's Madison Dean got her Jaguars out to a quick start, scoring 21 points in the first half. She finished with 33 points, eight rebounds, and three steals in the road win.

• HOPKINS 67, ESKO 44: The two-time defending 4A champion Royals had little trouble with Esko, but Eskomos' senior Savanna Trapp managed 23 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots in the loss.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Bears show balance• BLAKE 62, ST. PAUL COMO PARK 46: Just four players scored for the Bears, but their double-digit contributions were more than enough to hold off the Cougars. Blaine Crawford notched 20 points for Blake. Como Park's Keiron Sauer also scored 20 in the loss.

• MOUND-WESTONKA 60, MONTICELLO 55: Tied at the half, the White Hawks rode a second-half surge to a slim road victory. Four players scored in the double-digits for Mound-Westonka, who were paced by Joe Herder's 19 points. Will Baumen scored 22 points for the Magic in the loss.
