High schools: The week ahead

A look at some of the best in metro prep sports this week:

BASEBALL

Featured game: Chaska at Eden Prairie, 4:15 p.m. Friday. The top-end talent on both teams -- at least eight players in the game will play college baseball -- make this a must-see matchup.

Today: St. Thomas Academy at Hill-Murray, 4:15 p.m.;

Eden Prairie at Eastview,

4:15 pm.

Thursday: Holy Family at Jordan, 5 p.m.; Chisago Lakes

at Irondale, 4:30 p.m.

Friday: Hopkins at Minnetonka, 6:30 p.m.; Stillwater

vs. Mounds View, at Kohler Meadows, 4:15 p.m.

Saturday: Hill-Murray at Cretin-Derham Hall, noon.

GOLF

Featured event: Tri-State Invitational, Friday-Saturday at U of M Les Bolstad G.C. Let's try this again. The tournament, the most prestigious boys' meet of the season, was postponed last week because of weather.

Others to watch

Today: Becker Invitational (boys), at Pebble Creek G.C., 2 p.m.

Tuesday: Metro Invite (boys), at River Oaks G.C., noon.

Thursday: Red Wing Earlybird Invitational (girls), at Mississippi National G.C., 12:30 pm

SOFTBALL

Featured event: Henry Sibley Invitational, Saturday. This eight-team tournament features two of the best pitchers in the metro, Eagan's Sara Moulton and St. Anthony's Rose Tusa. Games at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. at Mendakota Park.

Today: Park of Cottage Grove vs. Woodbury, at Ojibway Park, 4 p.m.

Tuesday: Annandale at Delano, 4:30 p.m.

Thursday: Hopkins at Minnetonka, 4:15 p.m.

Saturday: Richfield Invitational, 11 a.m.

BOYS' LACROSSE

Today: Wayzata at Minnetonka, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: Eastview at Blake, 2:30 p.m.

GIRLS' LACROSSE

Tuesday: Eden Prairie at Edina, 7 p.m.

Saturday: Blake at Benilde-St. Margaret's, 1 p.m.

TENNIS

Featured event: Strohkirch Invitational, 9 a.m. Saturday at Eden Prairie. Defending Class 2A team champion Rochester Mayo highlights the six-team field. And a chance to see Buffalo's Michael Sicora, the state's top-ranked singles player.

Thursday: Mounds View at Stillwater, 3:30 p.m.

Friday: Edina at Benilde-St. Margaret's, 4 p.m.

TRACK AND FIELD

Featured event: Pony Classic, at Stillwater, 9 a.m. Saturday. A boys-only event with a strong field, featuring metro powers Mounds View, Lakeville South and host Stillwater.

Others to watch

Friday: Lakeville North Invitational, 3:30 p.m.

Saturday: Apple Valley Invitational (girls), 10 a.m.
