Last update: March 26, 2008 - 11:26 PM

Warriors survive with clutch shooting at the line

Recap: In a back-and-forth game that included 14 lead changes and four ties, the second-seeded Warriors made eight of 14 free throws in the final two minutes to survive a scare from the Spartans.

Turning point: The teams traded baskets, and the lead, on eight consecutive possessions before a three-point shot by Peter Leslie put Henry Sibley ahead 51-49 with 6:11 to play. A three by Noah Kaiser 90 seconds later made it 56-49 and the Warriors controlled things after that.

The quote: "If we had hit one more shot, it might have been us pulling out a little bit." - Mayo coach Shaun Lang.

Noteworthy: Mayo led 25-24 at halftime and the lead might have been larger if not for nine first-half turnovers by the Spartans. They finished with 12. ... Henry Sibley shot 29 percent in the first half and 61 percent in the second. .... All the Henry Sibley scoring came from the starting five, with Leslie getting a game-high 19 and Kaiser scoring 15. Lucas Kuipers led Mayo with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
