2A: Crosby-Ironton 73, Rockford 59

Last update: March 26, 2008 - 11:35 PM

Guard contributes plenty

Recap: Bryce Tesdahl isn't going to overwhelm you as a scorer. Crosby-Ironton still needed him to become more assertive. The senior guard scored 15 of his 17 points in the final 19 minutes as the No. 1 Rangers (31-0) rallied from a nine-point deficit late in the first half. Crosby-Ironton shot 66 percent from the field (31 of 47).

Turning point: Tesdahl had everybody involved offensively with one big exception: himself. He had 12 points when the Rangers turned a 32-23 deficit into an 61-50 lead. And when Tesdahl wasn't scoring, he was finding the big fellow, Derek Swanhorst (6-5 and 270 pounds). The senior center had 27 points.

The quote: "I only score eight points if Bryce isn't in the game. It's such an honor to play with him. He makes all of us better, and [he] doesn't have to score at all in order for us to win." -- Swanhorst

Noteworthy: Rockford senior guard Nick Haugen concluded an outstanding career. The five-year starter led the Rockets (28-3) to five consecutive Central Minnesota Conference titles. He had 15 points in his prep finale.
