Recap: Braham found itself in an unusual predicament. The Bombers (26-5) were the inexperienced group despite making their fifth consecutive state tournament appearance, and it showed on the defensive end of the court.
Turning point: New London-Spicer (31-1) started a little tight until Wade Powers hit Jay Moten with a no-look bounce pass for a layup eight minutes into the game. The Wildcats put an exclamation point on it at the start of the second half, scoring 22 of the first 24 points. Senior forward Skylar Wachter had nine of his game-high 21 points during the run.
The quote: "At halftime we saw how well our fast break was working. We wanted to come out at the start of the second half and run them out of the building." -- Wachter
Noteworthy: The Wildcats know how to take advantage of their dominance on the boards -- they outrebounded Braham 53-26. Nineteen of the Wildcats' 25 baskets in the second half were layups, and they finished the game with 28.
