Austin 5, Marshall 0

Last update: February 21, 2008 - 12:13 AM

Recap: The Packers broke a scoreless tie with two goals in the second period, and Catherine Wagner finished with a hat trick in a 5-0 victory over Marshall.

Turning point: After Taylor Jenkins put the Tigers in front with a power-play goal (her first of two goals), Wagner's first goal made the score 2-0.

The quote: "I told the girls, 'Now we don't have to go home until Saturday.' They're pretty excited." -- Austin coach Dennis Bray.

Unsung standout: After the first period, when Marshall put only seven shots on goal, it looked as though Austin goaltender Audrey DeVries might be able to coast. But she stopped 12 shots in each of the next two periods and finished with 26 saves.

Noteworthy: The Packers' two top scorers, Jenkins and Wagner, have 81 and 63 points, respectively.
