Former New York Rangers draft pick Brad Stepan, the father of current Ranger Derek Stepan, has been named head boys’ hockey coach at Rosemount High School, activities director Mike Manning announced Tuesday.

Brad Stepan beat out six other interviewed candidates for the job, Manning said.

Stepan was drafted 91st overall by the Rangers in 1985 out of Hastings High School, but never made it beyond minor-league hockey. He was a scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning and has been on the coaching staff at Hastings and Henry Sibley.
