Adapted floor hockey champs set to defend their titles

The adapted floor hockey state tournament kicks off Friday with quarterfinals in the Cognitively Impaired (CI) and Physically Impaired (PI) divisions at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka returns to defend its PI crown and is the only undefeated team in the PI tournament (12-0-1). The Robins have dominated this season, outscoring opponents 101-17. Junior Mike Madson leads the Robbins with 37 goals, and junior Charlie Wittmer has 22 assists.

The Mustangs of Anoka-Hennepin (13-0) are looking for their third consecutive title in the CI division. Anoka-Hennepin senior Tyler Kurkowski enters the tournament with 52 goals and 23 assists for the North Division's top seed. Dakota United (12-0) received the top seed in the South Division. The Hawks, who placed second last season, won state titles in 2006 and 2009.

Semifinals in PI are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the title match at 2:30 p.m. In CI, the semifinals are at noon Saturday, the title game at 4 p.m.
