Boys' basketball games will be held in Mariucci

Last update: January 16, 2008 - 10:56 PM

Mariucci Arena, the home of Gophers men's hockey, will be transformed into a basketball arena for the boys' state tournament in March.

Williams Arena, normally the home for some of the quarterfinal-round games, is unavailable this year because it will be the site of a regional robotics competition sponsored by the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology.

On March 26, all four Class 2A quarterfinal games will be played at Mariucci, and two 3A quarterfinals will be held there that evening; the other two will be at Target Center. On March 27, all four 1A quarterfinals will be played at Mariucci.

All Class 4A tournament games will be played at Target Center, as will semifinals and championship games in the other three classes.

The March 12-15 girls' state tournament will have games at Williams Arena.
