Hill-Murray finishes big

• SCHWAN CUP (GOLD DIVISION): Hill-Murray showed the kind of depth it has Thursday night in the semifinals at Xcel Center. The Pioneers scored the final five goals, by five different players, rallying for a 6-3 victory over White Bear Lake. Ryan Furne, Dan Sova and Tyler Zepeda each had one goal and one assist for the Pioneers. ... Minnetonka sophomore goalie Jim Kruger stopped all 28 shots he faced, shutting out Roseville 3-0. Max Gardiner, also a sophomore, had one goal and one assist.

• SCHWAN CUP (SILVER DIVISION): Blake Appelhof set the tone early. He scored the first of his two goals 56 seconds into the game, leading Benilde-St. Margaret’s to a 6-0 victory over Breck in the semifinals at Aldrich Arena. Appelhof also assisted on both of Matt Bergland’s goals. The Red Knights outshot Breck 40-6. ... St. Thomas Academy scored three goals in the first and third periods, rolling to a 7-2 victory over Blaine. Christian Isackson and Ryan Walters each had two goals.

• SCHWAN CUP (BRONZE DIVISION): Senior forwards Garrick Perry and Jared Larson scored 17 seconds apart midway through the third period as Eastview rallied to beat Maple Grove 4-3 at Brooklyn Park Arena and advance to the finals. Perry, who assisted on Larson’s game-winning goal, also scored earlier in the period as the Lightning scored three times to overcome a 3-1 deficit. ... Mahtomedi scored on its first two shots in the shootout, beating Stillwater. The two teams played to a 3-3 overtime tie. The Ponies tied it on Wilson Housley’s power-play goal with one minute, three seconds remaining. Mahtomedi scored three consecutive goals in the third period to overcome a 2-0 deficit.
