• SCHWAN CUP (SILVER DIVISION): Benilde-St. Margaret's defense has been solid all season, and that was the case again Wednesday in upsetting Class 2A, No. 1 Edina 2-1 in the quarterfinals at Aldrich Arena. The Red Knights (8-1) have surrendered only 17 goals in their nine games. Benilde-St. Margaret's took a 2-0 lead when Brett Patterson scored 43 seconds into the second period. Teammate Steve Zierke opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period. Marshall Everson scored a power-play goal for Edina (9-1) in the third period. ... Riley Borer scored the only shootout goal as Breck beat Wayzata. The two teams played to a 2-2 overtime tie. Tyson Fulton scored both goals for Breck, and Lucas Whelan did likewise for Wayzata. ... • SCHWAN CUP (BLUE DIVISION): Eagan scored the first five goals, and went to beat Coon Rapids 8-3 in the quarterfinals. Kelsey Kennedy and Mollie Carroll each had two goals for the Wildcats. ... Sally Komarek's second goal, on a power play midway through the third period, broke a tie, lifting Blake over Irondale 4-2. Komarek figured in all four goals (scoring two and assisting on two).
