Becker 21, Rogers 14

Becker rallied from a 14-point deficit in the final 3:36 of the fourth quarter, then scored the only touchdown of overtime.

Last update: September 8, 2007 - 12:41 AM

Things have come easy in recent years for Becker, which has a 38-4 record over the past three seasons. So forgive the Bulldogs if they've made things a little uncomfortable for their fans recently.

One week after winning on a last-second field goal, Becker rallied from a 14-point deficit to tie the score with two touchdowns in the final 3:36 of the fourth quarter, then scored the only touchdown of overtime to stun upset-minded Rogers 21-14.

Rogers scored twice in the second quarter, on a 2-yard run by Nick Jensen and a 17-yard reception by Josh Carey, then leaned on its defense to hold down Becker for most of the game.

The Bulldogs finally managed to dent the Rogers defense on a 2-yard run by Clinton Aurentz, then forced Rogers into a three-and-out on its next possession.

The Bulldogs tied the score on a 29-yard hook-and-lateral play with 1:32 left in regulation. Ryan Veldman caught a pass, then pitched the ball to Paul Anderson, who was streaking toward the end zone.

Aurentz scored on a 4-yard run in the first overtime, and the defense held Rogers on four plays to complete the come-from-behind victory.
