I did just that for a buddy up in Canada a few years ago. My buddy and his partner came screaming across the lake towards our boat. Me … read more and my partner thought they either had a prize fish or they needed help. Well turns out that those smaller Northern Pike are harder to hold than some people think. He had buried a treble hook into the palm of his hand when a smaller Northern was squirming on him. I gave him the bottle of Jack Daniels and told him to take a couple pulls on that while I get a few things to fix the problem. I recommend taking the hook off of the lure and then you can deal with it much better. I used a needle nose pliers and popped the hook through the skin , clipped the hook and backed off the rest through the original hole. He said he never really felt anything and the next day it was hard to tell he had ever had a hook problem. We too keep our tetnus shots up so it was not a big deal. A little common sense goes a long way. Good thing we had the Jack with !!
