Ice is 6 to 12 inches on the big lake!
People are moving fish houses all over Otter Tail Lake. Four wheelers are the best for transportation now. Always check where you are going - ice is never completely predictable.
Fish are biting in 20 to 30 feet of water.
All accesses are now open. Be safe and we hope to see you over the holidays!
Stop in at Ken's Tackle for some direction! Happy Holidays!
Checked out Otter Tail Lake tonight and I'm happy to report it's 1 to 8 inches of ice. All accesses are open with the exception of Amor Park - still some pockets of 1 to 2 inches off of Amor Park.
Caution is still advised.
Walleyes are being caught in 20 to 30 feet of water. Perch are also biting in 15 to 25 feet of water.
Stop in Ken's Tackle on directions, please be careful.
Fishing guides are checking the ice conditions on Otter Tail Lake daily. Today they found ice from zero to five inches, without any consistance showing a lot of 1 to 2 inch spots. We have 3 to 5 inches of snow on the lake, making it hard to know what you have beneath your feet.
Yet it's making ice slowly, you'll find folks venturing out carefully on foot only. Riviera and Amor accesses have only 1 inch of ice out to 50 to 100 feet out.
Please be careful and call Ken's Tackle (218-495-2895) before you do anything. We don't want problems, so you have to use extreme caution when fishing by foot.
Want to report that smaller lakes in the Otter Tail Lake area are froze over, now making ice. Not enough to fish yet - but it's working on the ice.
Larger lakes are getting closer to being froze over. Still some open spots.
We'll keep you posted on the status of when you can fish on some hard water!

Crawlers and minnows are still baits of choice. Sunfish and crappies have slowed but should pick up with sunny days and stable temps.
Muskie fish has been good on West Battle Lake in the morning and evening hours.
All lakes in the area have extremely low water levels so be careful entering and leaving accesses.
Duck opener was good. Lots of wood ducks and teal. Not many mallards yet.
