Star Tribune
Even if the fish aren’t biting, the ducks aren’t flying and the pheasants aren’t flushing, Outdoors Writer Doug Smith says any day spent outdoors is a good day. A Minnesota native whose love of the outdoors was kindled on family vacations to Brainerd-area lakes as a kid, he’s been covering the outdoors beat at the Star Tribune since 1995. Besides hunting and fishing, he camps, paddles, hikes, bikes and considers walleyes fried over a campfire to be gourmet cuisine.

Everyone Please Read "The Omnivore's Dilema"
Everyone should read this book, omnivore or vegetarian. We have become so far removed from our food that many do not even associate … read more killing with eating. Nature does not grant anything the right to live and humans are part of the food chain, like it or not. To those that oppose what this young lady did, you are confusing emotions with reality. You may choose to "subcontract" your killing, but everything you eat, plant or animal, had to die for you to consume it.
