Fall Fishing

Posted by: Debbie Lempola Updated: November 21, 2009 - 7:44 AM

With the beautiful weather this fall there continues to be a few diehards out fishing.  They are doing well as usual in the fall months.  Low light conditions prove to be best.  Try Big Mantrap, Long and Fish Hook.  The deer hunting season is wrapping up with our numbers slightly down for registration.  We have seen quite a few large bucks this year.

Rain, Rain go away

Due to the weather only a few diehards are heading out to the lakes.  The  ones who are going have been happy with their catch.  The rifle season is fast approaching, make sure you are aware of the rules in your area.  We've seen some real nice bucks so far.  Enjoy fall!

Water Temps Cool

Posted by: Debbie Lempola Updated: October 7, 2009 - 8:03 AM
Water temps are now down to about 55.  Reports are mixed and scattered with Walleyes hitting on shiner minnows and Northerns taking light northern minnows.  The grouse are starting to move now that we've had a hard frost.

Words out on the crappies, the Crow Wings, Potato, Island and Hook are all giving up a few.  Try along the weedbeds due to the warmer temps.  A cool down is coming so that should only help.  The leech season has pretty much ended but the nightcrawlers are working out well.  Another great weekend on the way!

The bite continues to improve

Whether it is the weather or finally some warmer water temps the catch continues to improve.  We have seen several nice walleyes from Long Lake as well as Potato and Island.  This weekend will again prove to be a great time to be on the water.  Night Crawlers and Red Tails are the bait of choice.  Leeches are at the end of their season with only medium to smalls left.  Remember, this weekend is the archery opener so get your bows tuned up now!
