Panfish are hitting in shallower water, larger crappies and bluegills. Walleyes are starting to bite, the ones caught have spawned. We have leeches, crawlers and a full line of minnows, including shiners, creek chubs and more!
The weather looks GREAT for the weekend up north!
Well we sure came down to the wire on this opener! Many of the lakes are now open. We were able to obtain a full line of bait as well.
Congrats to Govenor Dayton on his walleye catch, others in the area did well also. Stay shallow, the water remains very cold.
A few folks are still wandering out as it has become alittle easier to move around on select lakes. USE EXTREME CAUTION! Reports of panfish from Straight and Leech Lakes.

We sure can't give you good news now about moving around on our local lakes, it's bad. There are a few brave souls out but be careful. Many reports of fishing houses frozen in, snowmobiles stuck and rock hard drifts. It should start warming up this weekend so the end of winter is near!
Northerns have been hitting well on Potato, Fish hook and Big Mantrap. The Walleye bite has been slower, but once the weather settles it should pick up once again. Looking for panfish? Head to the Crow Wing chain. Tickets are still available for the Park Rapids Fishing derby. This events contributes thousands of dollars annually to local organizations, it is well worth the drive north!
