No, this is not as it appears.  The ducklings are actually mallards, and the mallard hen is barely out of the photo.  The drake wood duck just happened to have been swimming past.

Warblers are migrating through Minnesota right now, among them the colorful American Redstart.  Redstarts do nest in the state.
