YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
If your looking for a reason to get out on a beautiful fall day. Why not head down to the lake for some casting practice or personal instruction.
My intentions are to motivate you to get out and enjoy the weather we’ve been having. I know the days are short and the morning and evenings are cool, but if you have the chance, a sunny afternoon feels good. Even though your fly fishing may be winding down for year, the water isn’t hard yet. You can still get some use out of that equipment.
Trout fishing season is over for a lot of us in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Now is the time to work on your casting. There are no fish to distract your focus. I suspect with the growing interest in the spey fishing that some of you folks have recently purchased equipment. If it’s a long haul to the Great Lakes to put it to use, you can still head down to a local lake or river and practice.
If you go to the beach around the Twin Cities area this time of year, you’ll have the whole place to yourself. Grab your waders and rod and check it out. We soaked up the sun at the beach in St. Paul this last weekend while working on spey casting with local instructor Bob Nasby. If your looking for good instruction to shorten the learning curve with single hand or two handed rods, give him a call at 651-730-5284.
If I still haven’t convinced you to get out there, maybe this will help. There may come a day when you can’t get out there due to health problems. Seize the opportunity when it comes knocking. Besides that the fishing gets easier when your casting skills are well honed.
