More about Anthony Hauck

White Bear Lake, Minn.

Anthony is the Public Relations Specialist at Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's national headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Hauck grew up on a farm in rural Madison, Minnesota, also known as "Lutefisk Capital USA." Now a resident of White Bear Lake, he loves escaping the city frequently to hunt pheasants, Hungarian partridge, grouse & woodcock, waterfowl and deer and to wet a fishing line here and there. He also enjoys the great game of (outdoor) baseball, jammin' on his six stringer and not eating lutefisk.

Many of us now use social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) as part of our functioning daily lives. It's easy to communicate with friends new and old, and I personally like to check in on my ex girlfriends and find reasons why my life is better than theirs.

In all seriousness, the Pheasants Forever Facebook Fan Page (http://www.facebook.com/pheasantsforever) has the goods. Nearly 6,000 people of all ages are "fans," and many are regular contributors in online discussions ranging from serious (federal conservation programs), to the not-so-serious (weekend hunting reports), to the online fisticuffs (Are Labs better than shorthairs?).

For you hardcore waterfowlers, of which I am also one, Federal Premium® Black Cloud® ammunition has launched a new social networking site called Storm Chasers Network. You won’t find juicy relationship news or be able to see who just became a fan of Megan Fox, because this bad boy is devoted entirely to the world of waterfowl hunting. You can track the duck migration and a lot more, so check it out for yourself at www.stormchasersnetwork.com. I’m just getting my profile going, but find me on the site as "bigcat" (a story for another time).

On a slightly related note, we’re excited at PF because Federal Premium will be expanding its Black Cloud technology to create an upland style load, available next fall. Federal Premium has been a great supporter of Pheasants Forever’s conservation efforts, and has already produced more than 20 million rounds to fill PF-logoed Federal Wing-Shok boxes, with a portion of the proceeds of every box going to "The Habitat Organization’s" conservation efforts.

And after the new upland ammunition is unveiled in 2010, could a similar upland hunting social networking site be in the chamber? The bigcat hopes so.
