This weekend I headed down to my cabin in Prairie Du Chien, WI, located on pool 10 of the Mississippi River.  My partner Alex Welter and I had a Hawgz Bass Series tournament on Sunday.

We spent Friday morning pre-fishing and located several good school's of bass.  We had one group of smallmouth located on main river rock and then largemouth located in lilypads and slop.  We decided to start off on our smallmouth and only if needed we would make the run south to our largemouth area.

On Saturday, we headed even further south to Dubuque, Iowa to work at the grand opening event of Elite Outdoors Unlimited.  This is by far the best tackle and archery pro shop in that area and it was a blast talking to customers, handing out Eagle Claw hook samples and answering questions about RC Tackle products.  Danny runs a great shop, with exceptional customer service and has a full service archery shop, indoor ranges and Technohunt.  If you are ever down in the Dubuque area, make sure you stop in and say hi and take a look around.

Tournament day came on Sunday, and our smallmouth spot had changed somewhat, but with a lot of hard work and persistance we got them to bite.  Using RC Tackle RC Beavers in green pumpkin on Texas and Carolina rigs, helped us put together our 12.9 lb. 5-fish limit.  Two other keys to are success was using Seagaur Inviz-X flourocarbon to help us detect the light bite in the windy conditions and also a 3/0 wide gap, fine wire Eagle Claw hook.  These hooks helped us hook up and get a good hook in the bass.
