Say what? Fellegy's back on the ClubOutdoors pages? Where has he been? Did they ban him from writing? Was he in jail for the petty mis-demeanor fishing charge?  LOL  Well...I, simply, took a break from this space!  But I was never too far away. Title to blogs such as "Don't use the lakes after mid-October", "Contempt of Court" , "A new Waypoint on Lake Mille Lacs" and "Better lucky than good" were and still are in line for this space. So, here's some touching on some stuff earmarked for this space down the road.....

The DNR takes the docks out on most lakes by mid-October at public accesses. Temps in the 50's and hungry walleyes await fall fishermen--but bring a ladder and hip-boots to get in your boat! Why? Are we to quit using the lakes at that point?

When the U.S. Supreme Court/lower courts gave the Treaty  harvest rights to the Bands on Lake Mille Lacs, did they order the Mn. DNR and Tribal leaders to negotiate a plan that kept the resource safe for the future? If so...are the two groups now in "contempt of court" per that order? That question/issue will be back in those courts......sooner than later! Proof is on the record.  Stay tuned.

Finding shore lunch (walleyes) on Lake Mille Lacs will soon be much easier! There will be a new "Waypoint"  available to all at the big lake that will be a guarantee to get that shore lunch. Lattitude/Longitude numbers will soon be out....

"Better lucky than good" might be fitting for my 2011 high speed beef season. I was shocked when my gun went click as I settled the cross-hairs on a nice 165-175lb/ 8 pointer and watched him run away. An hour later, while being down in the dumps, lucky or good  me had a BIG 205lb.,  heavy, high racked 8 pointer walk up. This time the gun made a loud bang. I say "good". Others say "lucky". And on the same morning, a neighbor sat with his young grandson in the deer stand for the first time. The grandson had never shot at a deer, being this time was his first time out. Is he good or lucky? His first  shot downed a small buck.....and 2-3 minutes later  downed his 2nd a dandy 10 pointer!  Grandpa Swenson, at around 80 years old and over 50 years of chasing high speed beef,  never had a greater experience in a deer stand. Is the kid lucky or good...?  We'll ask Grandpa Wally and report back.

Stay tuned! I might be back....
