However summer-like today might feel, autumn can't be far off if Game Fair -- the annual outdoor extravaganza for hunters, dog lovers, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts -- is here.
This Friday marks the first day of the show's six-day run at Armstrong Ranch Kennels in suburban Ramsey (for directions go to www.gamefair.com). Owned by dog trainers and world champion trap shooters Chuck and Loral I. Delaney, Game Fair is spread over two three-day weekends, Friday through Sunday and Aug. 13-15.
Trick shooter Tom Knapp will head a long list of showmen and outdoor experts. Knapp has performed worldwide with his guns, once appearing in 14 countries over four months. He also hosts national TV outdoor shows.
Knapp once threw and individually broke 10 clays in 2.2 seconds, using a Benelli M2 and extended magazine.
Dogs also will have their day at Game Fair. Owners are encouraged to bring their hunting, agility and other canines (leashed) to run in the many retrieving and other competitions and fun games.
Shotgunners also are welcome to bring their cased firearms to try the sporting clays and other courses.
Other experts include champion duck-call maker Jeff Foiles, 2009 world duck-calling champion Mike Anderson, three-time world duck-calling champion Barnie Calif, and Minnesota's own goose-hunting "Flagman," Randy Bartz.
World champion shotgunner Loral I. Delaney will offer shooting seminars for women. And Gary Clancy, T.R. Michaels and many others will talk deer, deer hunting and deer processing.
A complete seminar and exhibitor list is on the fair's website. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $10, $8 for seniors 65 and older, and $5 for kids 6-12. Discount coupons can be printed at the fair's website.
