Walleyes can be a challenge to find as they move among water depths. Planer boards are useful to target these fish but can be a hassle. One alternative: Troll with a three-way swivel, employed with live bait or a crankbait. To use, tie the line from your reel to one swivel ring. Then attach your bait or lure to a 24-inch piece of fluorocarbon (if using bait, thread a float ahead of a #4 or #6 hook) to a second swivel ring. To the third swivel ring attach roughly a foot of 4- or 6-pound mono and a bottom-bouncer style weight.
