This year's youth turkey hunt was the sixth annual, and the 300 kids participating made it the biggest event yet. Here's how the event has grown, and how the young hunters fared:
2004 29 kids bagged eight birds, a 27 percent success rate.
2005 63 kids shot eight birds, a 13 percent success rate.
2006 79 young hunters shot 19 turkeys, a 24 percent success rate.
2007 167 youths harvested 59 birds, a 35 percent success rate.
2008 237 youths killed 90 birds, a 38 percent success rate.
2009 300 youths. The number of birds harvested wasn't available.
