(As told by dad, Tom Thedens)

Emily caught this nice northern, above, while she was fishing with her Uncle Rick on Lake Leo in northwestern Minnesota. It was her first time fishing from a kayak, and she thought many times that she was going to tip over before finally reeling the fish in.

FIRST MUSKIE

TJ Moberg, 13, of Champlin, caught this 42-inch muskie while trolling for walleyes on Wisconsin's Flambeau River. "It didn't put up much of a fight, and he thought it was a bass until it got close to the boat, then the fish ran and he realized he had something bigger," said TJ's mom, Julie.

LET'S MOVE

JJ Brackin, 6, of Minnetonka, caught this 37-inch, 12-pound northern on Mary Lake near Big Fork. He already had landed 28- and 29-inch northerns when the bigger fish hit. "His head was so huge!" JJ said. JJ's dad, James, netted the fish. JJ later caught a 14-inch crappie and then told his parents he wanted to move to the cabin.
