Have you ever lost a big fish right at the boat? Either the hook pulled free or the line broke. There are a couple of things you can do to make sure this doesn't happen. Check your drag every once in awhile by pulling some line and spinning the spool. That way you know the drag won't stick when you need it most. I find that most anglers keep their drag too tight. You don't want it too loose, but a little give is better than a tight drag. Re-tie often. Knots get weaker and abrasion from smaller fish as well as rocks and wood will weaken the line. Re-tie that lure often and when the trophy comes boat- side you can go toe-to-toe and know you'll win that battle.
