1 Bird-watching trek

Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, March 22 and 24, 8-10:30 a.m.

The refuge is hosting a series of bird-watching treks this spring, each exploring a different unit and a different facet of spring migration. This installment convenes at Old Cedar Avenue in Bloomington for a guided hike in search of migratory warblers. More information: www.fws.gov/refuge/ minnesota_valley/events.html.

2 Orienteering clinic

3 Maple syruping in your back yard

Fort Snelling State Park, March 22, 1-2:30 p.m.

Everything you need to make your own syrup — learn to tap trees and evaporate sap, learn what equipment is required to get started at home. Visitors will also learn about the history of maple syrup, with plenty of opportunities for taste testing. For more information: 612-725-2724 or www.mndnr.gov.

4 Desperately seeking spring

Fort Snelling State Park, March 23, 1-2:30 p.m.
