Trophy Tales: 14-year-old girl; 29-inch walleye

"Maeve was on a BWCA canoe trip with her brother, uncle and me, and on a day that included 11 portages, she caught this 29-inch walleye while casting from the canoe. She hooked it on an orange spinner, reached into the water, grabbed the fish and deposited it in the bottom of the canoe. After a couple of photos, Maeve waded into the lake and cradled the fish until it swam away.''
PICTURE PERFECT PIKE -- Frank Rumpf of Stillwater caught and released this 43-inch northern while jigging for walleyes at Lac La Croix in Ontario. "It took 15 minutes to land the fish,'' he said. He also caught a 28-inch walleye in the same spot.
KISSABLE -- Mackenzie Beck, 7, of Elk River caught this 27-inch walleye on a gravel bar on Lake Mille Lacs while fishing with her dad, Mike. After giving the fish a quick smooch on the nose, she released it.
