GEAR ALERT!

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness paddlers who prefer eating fresh fish rather than freeze-dried whatever should take various plastic baits along. Among them: White pearl (bring other colors, too) Flukes by Zoom baits. Pair these with 1/4 - or 3/8-ounce Mimic Minnow jigs by Northland, the lighter for bass and walleyes, the heavier for lake trout.
