OPERATION DRY WATER
Minnesota law enforcement officers will be cracking down this weekend on drunken boaters, part of the annual nationwide Operation Dry Water campaign. DNR officers and sheriff's water patrol deputies will be out in force Friday through Sunday. The idea is to give boating under the influence (BUI) enforcement high visibility before the Fourth of July holiday and peak summer boating season. Officers will be looking for boaters whose blood-alcohol content is at or exceeds the 0.08 limit. Last year, eight of the 16 boating deaths in Minnesota were alcohol-related.
