Are fishing openers warmer now than in the past?

Share on DiggThe Legislature will consider a proposal to open the spring season a week earlier than is now the case. Global warming has been cited as a reason the move can be done without hurting fish, because -- due to rising temperatures -- spawning concludes earlier than it once did. But are mid-May temperatures really that much warmer now?

Wisconsin hunter bags 30-point buck - Wayne Schumacher of Fond du Lac shot the deer with a bow from a tree stand near Rosendale. The deer, referred to as "Lucky Buck," has an inside antler spread of 20 1/2 inches.
