You can buy hunting and fishing licenses as well as renew boat, snowmobile, ATV and off-highway-vehicle registrations online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the DNR's website, www.dnr.state.mn.us.
You can also buy hunting and fishing licenses via a special phone line, 1-888-665-4236. Both the online and phone systems charge a $3.50 convenience fee.
Or, of course, you can buy your licenses at any of about 1,800 Electronic Licensing System (ELS) outlets. The list of outlets is on the DNR's website under "licenses."
A vendor hired by the state Central Bank in Missouri operates the ELS outlets and the online and phone licensing systems. It does that work for 20 other states, including Wisconsin. A subcontractor, Automated License Systems of Nashville, handles Minnesota's phone line.
