ALEXANDRIA AREA
Leeches and crawlers are producing a few walleyes during the evening hours on lakes Ida and Miltona in 25 to 35 feet. Look for bluegills on the 12- to 25-foot weedlines throughout the Le Homme Dieu Chain. Bass continue to be caught on most lakes in the weeds and there is some evening crappie action on the deep weedlines of lakes Le Homme Dieu, Darling and Geneva.
ANNANDALE AREA
Bass and northern pike are hitting on the deep weedlines of Clearwater Lake, Pleasant Lake and Cedar Lake. Sunfish action remains strong on the 12-foot weed edges of Clearwater, Sugar Lake and Lake Sylvia. The 10-foot bar on Lake Augusta is giving up sunfish as well. Crappies are active on the weedlines of most lakes during the evening hours. Muskie anglers are reporting a few follows from Sugar Lake, while Clearwater remains the best bet for walleyes, during the evening hours, in 18 to 24 feet.
BATTLE LAKE
Leeches and minnows are producing some walleyes at Clitherall, Silver, Blanche, Walker and Rush lakes in 18 to 25 feet. Theres some evening walleye action on Otter Tail Lake in seven to 11 feet with sucker minnows. On West Battle Lake, walleyes are being found in 30 to 35 feet during low-light periods. Muskie anglers are hooking fish on the weeds of West Battle Lake with sucker minnows. Look for sunfish in 14 to 18 feet at Deer Lake, Dead Lake and Norway Lake. Bass and northern pike are hitting well on most lakes in 16 to 20 feet.
BEMIDJI AREA
A jig and minnow continues to produce walleyes in the six-foot cabbage beds of Lake Bemidji and Lake Plantagenet. Rapalas and redtails also have worked on these lakes in 14 to 16 feet. Muskie action has been slow, but Big Lake is giving up crappies in 12 to 14 feet. Work the weedlines of Lake Swenson for pike and bluegills have been on the bite in 12 to 14 feet on most lakes.
BLACKDUCK AREA
Panfish action continues to be very good on the 10- to 12-foot weed edges of Pimushe Lake, Gilstead Lake, North Twin Lake and South Twin Lake. Theres an evening walleye bite at Blackduck Lake with crankbaits and leeches on the 10-foot weedlines. Bass and northern pike can be had with minnows or spinnerbaits on the weedlines of most lakes.
BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA
The weed edges of most lakes are producing pike and bass early and late in the day. Sunfish action also remains strong on the weedlines with small jigs and waxworms or panfish-sized leeches. Walleyes continue to be caught during the evening hours in 12 to 20 feet. The key has been to stay tight to the weeds with a live-bait rig and redtail.
CASS LAKE AREA
Midday hours are best spent off the bars of Cass Lake with a leech and live bait rig in 20 to 25 feet for walleyes. During the evening hours and after dark, Shad Raps are turning walleyes on top of the bars in 10 to 12 feet. Muskie and perch action remains slow, but Grace Lake and Kitchi Lake continue to give up panfish in 12 to 14 feet.
CROSBY AREA
Pike action has been excellent throughout the area with sucker minnows or spinnerbaits taking most fish. Bass also have bit well with lakes such as Rabbit, Serpent, Clearwater and Horseshoe standing out. Pelican Lake and Serpent Lake are giving up a few walleyes after dark. Sunfish remain an easy catch on the weedlines of Black Hoof Lake, Little Rabbit Lake, East Rabbit Lake and Turkey Bass Lake. Look for crappies to be suspended at Serpent and Mahnomen Lake. Jigging spoons tipped with Power Bait have produced trout during the early morning hours at Manuel Pit and Huntington Pit.
DETROIT LAKES
Walleye action is strong on Big Detroit Lake, during the morning in 10 to 17 feet. Look to the weedlines of lakes Melissa, Island and Sugarbush with minnows for as well. Bass will hit spinnerbaits on most lakes and sunfish are hitting on the deep weedlines of Floyd Lake, Prairie Lake and Melissa. Look for suspended crappies over 19 to 24 feet at Melissa during the evening. Muskies are hitting topwater baits at a good pace on Big Detroit Lake during low-light periods.
