Lake of the Woods: Most of the walleye action has been down-rigging in 31-35 feet, according to Lake of the Woods Tourism Bureau. Trolling while pulling plugs near the flats also works well.
Lake Vermilion: Lake Vermilion Trading Co. reports perch are hiding in the weeds and hitting on crankbaits pulled along the weedlines or a Lindy Rig with an inflated nightcrawler. There is muskie action using large bucktails and top-water baits after dark.
Chisago City area: Frankie's Bait reports fathead minnows and leeches are luring crappies in Chisago in 15 feet and in South Lindstrom in 20 feet, and attracting largemouth bass and northern off the docks.
Lake Osakis: Sunnies are hitting leeches and wax worms and crappies on crappie minnows and worms in 14 feet, according to Fisherman's Corner.
