Aoki leads U.S. men's rugby team to win in Paralypics

Chuck Aoki of Minneapolis scored a game-high 20 goals as the U.S. men's wheelchair rugby team beat Japan 64-48 at the Paralympic Games in London on Thursday.

The U.S. plays France on Friday before medal-round play starts Saturday.

Mallory Weggemann of Eagan was fourth in the women's swimming S8 100-meter freestyle, finishing in 1 minute, 8.51 seconds. Multiple gold medalist Jessica Long of the U.S. won in a world-record time of 1:05.63. Long has won four gold medals and two silvers so far in London.

Anna Eames of Golden Valley was sixth in the S10 100 free in

1:02.72. Sophie Pascoe of New Zealand claimed gold in 1:00.89.

Justin Zook of Plymouth, gold medalist in the men's S10 100 backstroke, did not make the finals of the 100 free in his classification.

The U.S. women's wheelchair basketball team, with Minnesotans Rose Hollermann (Elysian) and Sarah Binsfield (Vadnais Heights) lost to Australia 40-39 in a semifinal game. They will play for bronze Friday against The Netherlands.

The U.S. men's wheelchair basketball team, with Ian Lynch of Brooklyn Park, also lost in the semifinals to Australia, 72-63. The Americans play Great Britain for bronze on Saturday.

China (183 overall, 70 gold) leads the medal count with three days remaining. The U.S. (71, 23) is fourth overall.
