Gameday: Lynx at Detroit

Last update: July 31, 2009 - 12:02 AM

Lynx at a glance: Minnesota (10-8) has played better on the road than at home lately, leaving coach Jen Gillom baffled. The Lynx are 5-3 in away games, tying them with Phoenix for the WNBA's best road record. The Lynx are 9-8 all-time against Detroit, 2-6 at the Palace. Guard Candice Wiggins, who had her right knee drained before Tuesday's loss to Los Angeles, missed most of the second half because the knee was bothering her. She is expected to play tonight.

Shock at a glance: Detroit (5-9) has fallen on hard times after winning the WNBA title last season. The Shock is in the Eastern Conference cellar. Bill Laimbeer quit as head coach after three games, and the Shock has been plagued by injuries. Cheryl Ford (knee) has missed the past two games but is expected to start. Former Lynx star Katie Smith is averaging a team-high 14.7 points. Guard Anna DeForge, a late Lynx cut in training camp, has started four games after signing with Detroit on July 10.
