Augustus, Wiggins out for last 2 games

Last update: September 11, 2008 - 11:37 PM

Guards Seimone Augustus and Candice Wiggins, the two leading scorers for the Lynx, will miss the final two games of the season.

Both were injured on Tuesday in the team's 86-76 victory over Indiana. Augustus has been diagnosed with a mild concussion. An MRI on Wiggins' right knee on Wednesday confirmed she has a lateral meniscus tear. Surgery has been recommended.

"I am sure that both Seimone and Candice would fight to play in our last two games if we were still in the hunt for a playoff spot," said coach Don Zierden, whose Lynx plays Phoenix tonight at home.

"However, we feel that is in their best interest to sit out. ... We don't want either of them to do anything that could jeopardize their tremendously promising futures in the WNBA with the Lynx."
