The Lynx held their official media day today, which was a forced march for all the players through a labyrinth of photo shoots and interviews that ate up much of their morning.

For all that, there wasn't a ton of news to come out of the morning. But here are some nuggets I came away with:

--Rookie forward Asia Taylor continues to be the talk of camp, both for the way she has played basketball and for the toughness she has shown. An incident from the weekend's WNBA preseason tournament had everybody buzzing.

It happened in the fourth quarter of Friday's game against Phoenix, a traditional Lynx rival. Games between the two teams have been chippy in recent seasons, especially last year. Remember? The first game of the Western Conference finals last summer? The Lynx were beating up on Phoenix in the fourth quarter when Diana Taurasi and Seimone Augustus got into a shoving match and were both assessed fouls. The incident ended with a truce, when Taurasi and Augustus shared a much-publicized on-court kiss.

Fast forward to Friday. Phoenix veteran DeWanna Bonner and Taylor had been going at it a bit in the fourth quarter. At one point Bonner gave Taylor an elbow up around the face. Not long after that, as Bonner attempted a shot and Taylor fouled her. Hard. Hard enough that Taylor was called for a flagrant foul. Hard enough that Bonner got up and wanted to go at it. Hard enough that the two had to be separated.

Well, apparently that show of toughness garnered praise all around. "You know how Phoenix was last year, until the kiss," Augustus said. "We're always chippy with each other. I think A.T. set the tone for the year with that preseason foul in Orlando."

--It was surprising how well both Monica Wright and Devereaux Peters were moving around today considering both are coming back from knee surgeries.

Wright had her left leg scoped April 25 and was given a four-to-eight week prognosis for her return. This Friday will mark three weeks from surgery. Peters had a similar procedure done to her left knee last Wednesday. She was given a four- to six-week timetable.

Both, however, said they were doing well.

Especially Peters, who was walking without much of a limp less than a week after the procedure. "It went really well," she said. "It went a lot better than expected. It wasn't as bad as they originally thought. I'm hoping the recovery time will be closer to four [weeks].''

The Lynx, however, are planning on being without either of their top reserves for the first six or eight weeks of the season. The good news? The Lynx won't play either L.A. or Phoenix – their top two Western Conference rivals – until June 8, in the ninth game of the season.

--Veteran forward Rebekkah Brunson rejoined the team Monday morning, and was scheduled to have her physical Monday afternoon. There has been some concern that Brunson might have some injury issues coming out of her season overseas. More will be known tomorrow.

--Lindsay Whalen turned 32 May 9. How did she spend her special day? Playing basketball in the WNBA preseason tournament. "Had a shootaround, took a nap, had my birthday, played, had some dinner," she said. "It was pretty cool.''

That's about it for now. There is a chance the Lynx could make a personnel move or two tomorrow. I'll update you if that happens.
