Lynx update: The Lynx (18-7) have lost four of their past five games, their worst stretch since losing four of five late in the 2010 season. In a loss to the Atlanta Dream on Monday, the Lynx were outscored 22-5 in the fourth quarter. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve declined to speak with the media afterward, instead holding a meeting with the team's captains. Now with only a half-game lead in the Western Conference, the Lynx will need to focus on correcting their defensive miscues to distance themselves from the second-place Los Angeles Sparks. Though they hold opponents to an average of 40.7 percent shooting — tied for second best in the WNBA — the Lynx allowed the Dream to shoot almost 48 percent from the floor. After topping 20 points for the third time in August less than a week ago, Seimone Augustus has averaged only 13 points on 11-for-30 shooting her past two games.

Sun update: At 7-17, Connecticut has the fewest victories in the WNBA. The Lynx, however, have fallen twice to teams with losing records this month. The Sun is one of three teams that averages less than 40 percent shooting. Center Tina Charles, whose 17.9 points per game is fifth best in the league, leads the way in scoring. The Sun and the Lynx have met once in the regular season so far, a game in which the Lynx shot 50 percent from the field and won 90-74. Opponents of the Sun have averaged more than 38 rebounds per game, the most in the WNBA.
