Lynx-Atlanta game preview

8 P.M. vs. Atlanta • TARGET CENTER

ESPN2, 106.1-FM

Lynx at a glance: This might be the biggest test yet of Minnesota’s franchise-record 14-game home winning streak. Atlanta enters Target Center with the WNBA’s best record (10-1) and longest active winning streak (six). And the Lynx almost certainly will be without Seimone Augustus, who sprained her left ankle in Sunday’s victory over Phoenix. That means more will be needed from Maya Moore — who shook off a six-quarter shooting slump to take charge Monday, scoring 23 vs. the Mercury — and also PG Lindsay Whalen and backup guard Monica Wright. Wright scored a season-high 17 points vs. Phoenix. Moore (17.4) is ninth in the league in scoring, Whalen (5.1) is fourth in assists. Minnesota is 7-3 all-time vs. Atlanta in regular season games and has won the past five.

Dream at a glance: Monday the Lynx held Diana Taurasi, the Western Conference player of the month for June, to four points, a season low. Can they do a similar job on G/F Angel McCoughtry, who won the same award in the East? McCoughtry is second in the league in scoring (20.2), first in steals (3.73), and fifth in assists (4.7). F Sancho Lyttle, who was averaging 15.4 points and 9.0 rebounds before missing six games to play for Spain’s national team at EuroBasket, is scheduled to return. F/C Erika de Souza is fourth in the league in blocks (2.18) and ninth in rebounding and G Armintie Herrington is third in steals (3.10).
