Gameday: Lynx vs. Phoenix

  • Updated: July 7, 2013 - 12:09 AM

6 P.M. VS. PHOENIX • TARGET CENTER • FSN, 106.1-FM

Lynx at a glance: The Lynx are coming off a 30-point loss in Los Angeles on Tuesday. But the good news is that, like many WNBA teams, Minnesota is a different team at home. The Lynx are 5-0 at the Target Center — one of three teams still unbeaten at home this season — and are on a franchise-record 13-game home winning streak. They have won seven consecutive games against Phoenix overall, four in a row at Target Center. Other than PG Lindsay Whalen (19 points) and F Rebekkah Brunson (18 points and 12 rebounds), the Lynx will be looking to bounce back from a very poor game in L.A. Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus shot a combined 6-for-24. The Lynx have made just 13 of 60 three-point shots (21.7 percent) over the past six games.

Mercury at a glance: Mercury guard Diana Taurasi is coming off Player of the Month honors for the Western Conference in June. Taurasi, who leads the league in scoring (23.0), averaged 24.2 points in June, during which the Mercury went 7-3. Her 242 points in June were nearly 100 more than any other WNBA player for the month. DeWanna Bonner (16.5) is the team’s second-leading scorer. Phoenix has won five consecutive road games by an average of 9.8 points.
