Lynx's hopes of back-to-back WNBA titles over

Posted by: Roman Augustoviz under Lynx Updated: October 22, 2012 - 1:47 AM

The Lynx never put much pressue on Indiana on Sunday. Their biggest lead in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals was two points.

The Fever won 87-78 for a number of reasons.

The most glaring is Seimone Augustus' tough night. She was 3 of 21. Augustus tried driving at times, especially early, but the Fever didn't foul. She only attempted two free throws, made both and finished with eight points.

Indiana marched to the free throw line, making 29 of 31 to the Lynx's 10 of 12.

The Fever also made twice as many three-point shots, eight to the Lynx's four.

Oddly, the Lynx had 32 field goals, or seven more than Indiana.

It didn't matter. The Fever had the edge in too many other categories: they outrebounded the Fever 39-35, outblockeded them 7-4, and had fewer turnovers, eight to 12.

Only Lindsay Whalen, among the Lynx starters, played particularly well. She was nine of 12 from the field and four of four from the free throws line for 22 points. She kept finding seams to drive to the basket.

Whalen had eight assists and six rebounds, too. She kept the Lynx close for three quarters.
