Fever approaching Game 4 as if they -- not Lynx -- trail in WNBA Finals

Posted by: Roman Augustoviz under Lynx Updated: October 21, 2012 - 3:12 PM

Indiana coach Lin Dunn said Saturday that the Fever have to approach Game 4 on Sunday night as if they had lost the previous game -- or as if they were trailing 2-1 in the best-of-five WNBA Finals.

“We have to have that same sense of urgency that we had after we lost Game 2," she said. "That’s how we have to approach [Sunday] because they are going to come in with an enormous amount of intensity. Just like they did after we stole Game 1. So we have to be ready for that – they are not going to go away.”

Erlana Larkins, Indiana's strong post player, admits there is a little more excitement around Sunday's game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. "Because you know that you’re so close," she said. "Overall though, you just approach it like any other game. You play hard and leave it all out on the floor.”

COLTS BEHIND FEVER

Five Colts players have bought 2,500 tickets to Sunday's Game 4 of the WNBA Finals. They were distributed to fans; about 1,000 were in the main lobby at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday morning, buying or picking up tickets.

Antoine Bethea, Robert Mathis, Pat McAfee, Jerraud Powers and Reggie Wayne were the Colts supporting the Fever and four of the five were at Game 3 on Friday.

An Indiana pro basketball team last won a title in 1973 when the Pacers won their third American Basketball Association championship.

All three of the Fever's previous games at home in the WNBA Finals -- two against Phoenix in 2009 and one against the Lynx Friday -- have sold out and a fourth sellout is expected for Sunday. Bankers Life Fieldhouse holds 18,165.

FEVER FINDS JERSEY SPONSOR

On Friday, the Fever announced they have a jersey sponsor for 2013. It is Finish Line, a sports retailer.

COO Kelly Krauskopf called it the most significant day in franchise history. As recently as 2009, when the Fever reached the WNBA Finals for the first time, the franchise was on shaky financial footing.

Terms of the deal with Finish Line were not disclosed, but other such deals have been worth $1 million annually.

The Fever are the sixth of 12 WNBA teams to secure a jersey sponsor. The Lynx are still hoping to.

the other teams with jersey sponsors are:

Los Angeles Sparks

New York Liberty

Phoenix Mercury

Seattle Storm

Washington Mystics

LAST WORD

Dunn on Lynx: "They have got three Olympians, Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen, tremendous leadership, so they are not going to let this team give up."
