Abrosimova leads the way as Lynx break 10-game streak

Svetlana Abrosimova has been through her share of ups-and-downs since joining the Lynx in 2001. But even she isn't accustomed to their recent slide -- 10 consecutive losses.

Abrosimova made sure it wasn't going to continue Friday night. The small forward scored a season-high 23 points as the Lynx beat Los Angeles 85-76 at the Target Center, ending a franchise-tying losing streak.

"We've been struggling for many games, so every game we come out; this is the day we're going to get it," Abrosimova said. She went 9-for-16 from the floor, and made all four of her free-throw attempts.

The Lynx (6-20) were also part of a 10-game losing streak earlier this season, but that one extended over two years. They lost their first seven games of the season after dropping the last three in 2006.

"Every year you expect to get better," Abrosimova said. "I thought we were headed in the right direction this year."

Abrosimova's back-to-back jumpers three minutes into the third quarter gave Minnesota a 52-41 lead. She made two free throws earlier in the quarter.

The Lynx extended their lead to 67-51 before nearly suffering another fourth-quarter collapse. The Sparks (8-15) -- the first team with a losing record the Lynx has beaten this year -- pulled within 75-70 before Minnesota scored seven consecutive points, highlighted by an Abrosimova three, to regain control.

Seimone Augustus also finished with 23 points for the Lynx, who led 42-37 at halftime.
