The Gophers held onto the sixth spot in our Gold in the Barn Big Ten Power Poll No. 9, which only accounts for results through Tuesday night.

Ohio State remains on top of the poll.

You can see each individual ballot here.

Voter bios and links are listed here. 1. Ohio State – Eric Johnston says, "Until I see something to prove me otherwise, this team remains my National Champion." My 2 Cents: Gophers pushed them to the brink, exposed some of their weaknesses. Still top dog.

2. Purdue – Dan Owen says, "Yes, they are undefeated in the Big Ten so far, but the one thing worth noting is that they have yet to play a team I would consider good. They did beat Penn State, but that was before they started their shocking little run that seems more of a great little run of luck than anything else. And even in the nonconference, they really didn't play anyone THAT good. They finally are set to play some good teams here in the next week and I think we'll start to see them looking a bit more like the team everyone expected them to be when they lost Robbie Hummel." My 2 Cents: The Boilermakers haven't lost since Nov. 27. They've become one of the best stories in college basketball. Will the last chapter include a Big Ten title and NCAA tourney run? 3. Illinois –Joshua Powers says, "Typical Illini. Just when you think they've turned a corner they play with no energy against an inferior opponent and get beat. The Illini were just 12-30 from inside the arc and committed 15 turnovers in the loss. They have to be able to find scoring options other than bombing away on three pointers if this team expects to be consistent night after night." My 2 Cents: Turns out losing to Penn State is the new thing. The Illini lacked heart and poise when they needed it. If they don't have it against the Nittany Lions, how will they compete in tough games when the stakes rise? 4. Michigan State – Nadine Babu says, "I was about to give up on Michigan State with about 2 minutes to go against Wisconsin, but the Izzone sure didn't (they resembled a Seahawks crowd).Izzo didn't and the players sure didn't. They proved they could come back by creating turnover after turnover and making shots when it mattered." My 2 Cents: So far, a major question mark. If Korie Luscious misses that three against Wisconsin, it's a different game. Maybe a different season. 5. Wisconsin – Lindsay Guentzel says, "While the Badgers are second in the country in making free throws, I still haven't seen anything that shows me they will be above average in the Big 10. I will say that I was extremely impressed by Jordan Taylor during their OT loss to Michigan State—he's figured out that if he wants to move from second string to on-the-court star, he needs to start showing some dominance in the game. I think he has a lot more to show this season and since I'm not a fan of watching 'no-emotion' Jon Leuer on the court, I couldn't be happier." My 2 Cents: They needed that victory over the Spartans. It was right there. But they unraveled. The Badgers can control the tempo but can they beat good teams? 6. Minnesota – Damian Johnson says, "Starting to be a repeat of last year with all the distractions." My 2 Cents: There's no "almost" stat in Division I ball. The Gophers need to grab big wins and lose the distractions before they become one of the nation's most disappointing teams. 7. Penn State – Lindsay Guentzel says, "When Penn State beat Michigan State, I think college basketball fans across the country went—Huh? But after jumping out to a strong start against Illinois, the Nittany Lions made everyone sit up and take notice. They may have been the team that lost to Mississippi and Maine in the preseason but they've become a team to reckon with in the competitive Big 10 and I have no doubt they'll be shaking up these rankings for weeks to come." My 2 Cents: Talor Battle wants to go out with a bang. The Nittany Lions have beaten two ranked teams in league play. The same group, however, lost to Maine. Not sold. 8. Michigan – Dan Owen says, "Michigan played surprisingly well against No. 3 Kansas, taking them to OT. If Michigan can play like that consistently they'll start to make some noise here in the Big Ten, but up until that game they hadn't looked quite so good since the start of Big Ten play." My 2 Cents: Pushed the Jayhawks into overtime. No guarantees against the young Wolverines this season. 9. Northwestern – Nathan Wickman says, "If their Swiss cheese defense – worst in the conference in both scoring and shooting defense – doesn't keep them out of the NCAA Tournament, the ankle injury to John Shurna might. Despite scoring 24 points last time out against Indiana something isn't right - he's grabbed a total of zero rebounds in the last two games combined." My 2 Cents: "Entered the year with extraordinary dreams. Now, the Wildcats are just ordinary." 10. Iowa – Eric Johnston says, "Close game with Ohio State, and that's about it." My 2 Cents: They're battling for first-year head coach Fran McCaffery. 11. Indiana – Christopher Cramer says, "I'm not sure whether Indiana or Northwestern is the worst defensive team in the Big Ten, but I know the Hoosiers don't have as good of an offense." Wonder how long Tom Crean will get by on promises of future success?
