Al Golden will be on the football field Friday morning for Temple's first bowl practice. He won't be in Minneapolis, accepting the Gophers' coaching job.
That's according to OwlScoop.com, a Rivals website that covers Temple athletics.
Golden "is not a candidate for the vacant head coaching positions at Minnesota, Vanderbilt or Indiana," the website reported Thursday, citing "a source." That's the most definitive denial that Golden, 8-4 this season, his fifth at the Philadelphia school, is interested in coming to Minnesota. Golden has been rumored to be among athletic director Joel Maturi's possibilities for the Gopher job since Tim Brewster was fired in October.
