Lauren Gibbemeyer had 14 kills and a career-high 12 block assists, leading the Gophers volleyball team to a 25-11, 25-21, 25-22 victory over host Wisconsin on Sunday.
Ariana Filho had seven kills and Katherine Harms had five kills for the Gophers (21-7, 12-4 Big Ten), who are ranked No. 13.
The Badgers (11-14, 6-10) were led by Allison Wack, who had 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks.
Gophers receive bidThe Gophers men's cross-country team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held next Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Gophers finished fourth at the Central Regional on Saturday.
Etc. The Concordia (St. Paul) volleyball team will play host to the NCAA Division II Central Regional, which begins Thursday. Among others in the regional are SW Minnesota State, MSU Mankato and Minnesota Duluth.
The Hamline and St. Olaf men's teams and the St.Olaf women's team received at-large bids to the NCAA Division III cross-country meet.
The Gophers women's team had three runner-up finishes -- Alison Eggers in the 100 freestyle, Molly Belk in the 200 butterfly and its 400 freestyle relay team -- on Sunday at the USA Swimming Grand Prix at University Aquatic Center. U.S. Olympian Chloe Sutton won the 1,650 in a meet-record time of 16:07.15. The Gophers men's team got runner-up finishes from Curt Carlson, Kevin Baseheart and Michael McBroom.
