Gophers replay

Last update: November 8, 2009 - 10:15 PM

GOPHERS REPLAY

ILLINOIS 35, GOPHERS 32

Recap: The Gophers spent the first half digging a hole so deep -- they were down 28-7 at halftime -- that even a strong second-half comeback came up short. After they pulled within three with 9-plus minutes to play, the ensuing kickoff went out of bounds, giving the Illini the ball at their 40. Illinois scored the game-icing TD with 5:10 left eight plays later.

UP NEXT: SOUTH DAKOTA STATE

When, where: 11 a.m. Saturday, TCF Bank Stadium

TV, radio: Big Ten Network, 830-AM

Records: Gophers 5-5, 3-4 Big Ten; South Dakota State 7-2, 6-1 Missouri Valley

According to coach Tim Brewster ...

On South Dakota State: "They're a good team, a good [FCS] team. I watched their game [against Southern Illinois]. They beat Northern Iowa, which almost beat Iowa. They're a good football team."

On the bowl picture: "That's not an issue at all. The only issue we have this week is preparing to play and winning our sixth game and then preparing for our last game."
