Assistant coach Clint Cosgrove faces impaired-driving charge

Last update: November 7, 2009 - 11:24 PM

A member of the Gophers football coaching staff has been arrested in Shorewood on suspicion of impaired driving, authorities said Saturday.

Clint Cosgrove, 26 and in his third season as a defensive graduate assistant, was apprehended by South Lake Minnetonka Police Department and accused of third-degree driving while impaired early Friday on Hwy. 7 and Christmas Lake Road, police said.

Hennepin County jail records indicate that Clint Cosgrove, who lives in south Minneapolis, was jailed for about 41/2 hours Friday morning and also refused to submit to chemical testing at the time of his arrest.

Third-degree DWI is a gross misdemeanor. Refusal of testing is considered an aggravated factor that would elevate the allegation to a gross misdemeanor.

Cosgrove's father is Kevin Cosgrove, the Gophers' co-defensive coordinator.

A phone number for Clint Cosgrove could not be located. A message was left at his office Saturday evening.
